A high altitude mix

The best bars are destinations, not only places to drink. The Altitude Bar has always drawn a distinct crowd: sportsmen after a day on the Cresta Run, socialites who have their own particular stories to tell, pianists, and late-night conversationalists all left their mark on this storied room.

Two things to make a room like this hum further are mixology and music.

The cocktail programme by Andrea Delvo, together with St. Moritz Cocktail Week winner Andrea Paci, is built around the Cocktail Calendar: a journey through iconic drinks, mapping milestone moments from the Kulm’s history: a drink that marks the year 1878, when the first electric light came to Switzerland at this very hotel, or a cocktail which celebrates the Winter Olympics in 1928. Seasonality and a considered aperitivo culture further define the menu, with a selection of low- and non-alcoholic options alongside.

The music, curated by Directeur d’Ambiance Arman Naféei, draws on hi-fi listening culture, vinyl sessions, jazz, soul, and bossa nova. On Fridays and Saturdays, a pianist sets the tone from 19:00, followed by DJs from 21:00 to 22:30. The pianist closes the night.

Smoking Lounge

The Altitude Bar is a non-smoking space, but for those who prefer their drink with a cigar, the adjacent Smoking Lounge offers the right setting: a panelled room with floor-to-ceiling windows, a view over Lake St. Moritz, and the full Altitude Bar menu available.
